Winter Ski Trip to Austria 2011/2012
On Thursday 29th December, a group of 39 eager pupils set off for the annual ski trip to Alpendorf in Austria. On arrival at the resort twenty four hours later, they were still in a state of excitement although the same can not be said of the staff.
During the week the snow conditions were fantastic and the weather ranged from bright sunshine to snow showers and then foggy conditions where the poor visibility meant that you were glad that the person in front had on a bright ski jacket for you to follow in the mist. There were plenty of activities both on and off the slopes with bowling, sledging Quiz nights and swimming in a thermal spa. There was also a fancy dress party on New Years Eve where everyone, including staff, made a fantastic effort.
Both the ski instructors and the staff were very impressed with the progress made by every member of the group. By the final day every group had managed to ski over a number of mountains to reach the ultimate goal of the ‘Doughnut Restaurant’ which serves the biggest chocolate and cream filled doughnuts ever seen! There was also an award ceremony where a number of prizes were given out for the fastest times on a slalom course. Finally it was back on the bus and straight to sleep which meant a much more peaceful journey home and the end to yet another very successful ski trip. (Mrs. Thomas) Photographs click here
