Thank you for visiting our web site. Glan Afan Comprehensive School is a mixed 11 - 16 comprehensive, which has served the town of Port Talbot and its surrounding area for over 110 years. It has an excellent record of success in education, sporting and cultural fields.

Glan Afan is a very popular school; pupils enjoy coming to school and they all make good progress. Our performance in external exams is consistently close to the national average and our 'value added' figures are excellent. All pupils are given the opportunity to experience a full range of subjects on offer.

The school is proud of its extra curricular provision, which is on offer to all of its pupils and the care and support system which was recognized by Estyn as 'outstanding'.

The school was inspected by Estyn in March 2005. The Inspectors reported that :

Pupils generally achieved expected outcomes and consistently exceeded them at KS4.

Pupils gain from the 'outstanding' programme of extra curricular activities that is extensive, rich and diverse. They referred to the skill, dedication and commitment of teachers to out of hours learning and its affect on the standards achieved.

Emphasis is placed on the positive and supportive relationship that exists between pupils and staff.

The school has a caring environment in which pupils of all abilities and backgrounds feel secure and valued.
